Starting July 11, 2013, the new EU cosmetics regulation is in place and replaces the so far valid EC Directive 76/768/EEC as well as a major part of the so far valid national regulations based thereon, such as the German cosmetics regulation.
The most important changes as an overview:
- Clear definition of the most important terms
- More detailed requirements for safety assessment
- Central notification of products by the responsible person in Europe replaces the individual national notifications
- nanomaterials must be mentioned on the label
- claims must be verified
